Breeding

Several parameters come into play, to begin with the breeding, which imposes to the breeders a knowledge and a particular know-how concerning mainly the genetic selection, to obtain quality fleeces optimum the purpose being to manage to make a perfect thread.

Shearing

The shearing is the first operation in the chain of transformation, it is an essential stage. The shearer sits delicately the animal to be cropped between its legs, then with an electric lawn mower, he has to "undress" it quickly while respecting the fleece.

For the angora rabbit the fleece is harvested in the periods of natural molting by a delicate carding.

Sorting

According to the species, the breeder will make a first sorting according to the thinness of fleeces. For the breeders of the Creations du Bochaine, the thinness of fibers is the main quality looked for in fleeces. This thinness allows to obtain finished products of a great sweetness so appreciated by the customers.

Washing

The wash of the raw wool eliminates the animal impurities from it (suint, straw) and the mineral impurities (lands, sand) When taken out of tubs, the wool crosses a hairdryer which deprives its humidity. The return LAF (washed profoundly) indicates what stays of effectively useful wool to be packaged.

Carding

The carding aims at realizing a certain parallelism of the fibers and at removing knots and imperfection by the manufacture of a ribbon of a perfect regularity. The "peignage" is a carding refined for the long fibers such as the mohair and the alpaca.

Spinning

The spinning is the most complex stage of the process of elaboration of a thread. The first operation is the spinning which consists in making undergo in the ribbon a rolling and a variable twisting following the destination of the thread.

A thread can be: - of "chain", intended to bring of the solidity in a weaving. - of "weft", as a supplement to the warp yarn, it allows to bring the qualitative variety - of hosiery shop, intended for the manufacture of knitted goods. These yarns are generally less twisted than the precedents, with the aim of obtaining the sweetness, the flexibility and inflating required.

Dyeing

According to the tendencies of the fashion, the breeders, in dialogues with stylists, and their dyers choose the new colors of their ranges of yarns and weaving.

Weaving

The weaving of the Creations du Bochaine are mostly realized on mechanical looms in weaving mills, but also by craftsmen, on their weaving looms.

Clothing

This ultimate stage is as important as all previous ones. It will allow to highlight all the qualities of a pure wool produced by breeders and worked by craftsmen who produce high quality yarns. The mission is confided by the breeders to a dressmaker, designers and knitters. They create and knit unique models, by hand or by the machine while making up done necessarily by hand.
