 Cashmere   

The "cashmere" is the down or " under hair " of this goat.

ORIGIN :
This domesticated goat produces Cashmere and Mongolian wool. The wild species, with an even finer coat, is the Pashmina, but it is an internationally protected endangered species.

BREEDING:

CHARACTER cunning, lively and rustic.

REPRODUCTION The births take place in spring, with two or three kids by goat, which they bring up easily

BREEDING Outdoors all year long, except for the births in February and March.

FOOD It is an outstanding weed eater, without many needs


FLEECE
SHEARING A single shearing a year, delicate stage, which consists in getting back the maximum of hairs without " false cups ".

PRODUCTION The cashmere, or " under hair ", grows when nights lengthen again. Of a diameter from 12 to 15 microns, it is the finest hair of all the wool sorts. One goat gives on average 200 gr of cashmere a year.

TRANSFORMATION The first operation is the separation of the Jarre ( the thick hair) and the cashmere. The chain of transformation is afterward identical to the other fibers.

ADVICE FROM JEAN-CLAUDE : A sweater requires a dozen balls of 25 gr, and which sweetness!
